plan a modern wedding in the middle of the country

Mindy Hiatt Photography

I don’t know where to start with this film. Just the spirit, conversation and joy at the beginning are enough to fill your heart. But, the end? Oh my stars (thank you Emily for this phrase). The end is magical beyond words. Sometimes it rains on your wedding day (mine included). And, while most have a plan B, sometimes plan B isn’t worth it. Sometimes plan A was how it was supposed to happen and how it will happen.

Everyday I find myself over the moon at the fact that I get to witness so many beautiful marriages, and that doesn’t even include the beautiful ones that grace my inbox on a weekly basis. I spotted this classic wedding over on Caitlin’s blog just a few weeks ago. After finding out that she is a fellow MTH alum like myself and falling in love with the simplicity, the classic details and the personal touches in this wedding, I knew I had to share it. This one is a bit photo heavy, but I’m not apologizing for it.

From Caitlin, the photographer:
George and Danielle’s wedding day was very much a reflection of their character as a couple – charming and heartfelt. Danielle’s classic beauty and sincere kindness paired with George’s sweet heart and bright smile made photographing just the pair of them on their big day so enjoyable for me. Their reception stood out from the crowd with their creative touch and attention to details such as birdcage centerpieces, and, my favorite, a beautiful window pane with their guest seating handwritten within each pane. Thank you to the many wonderful vendors who helped George and Danielle’s day run flawlessly. This is a wedding I won’t soon forget.

Today’s real wedding is drenched in color. In an oh so beautiful and fun way. With splashes of green and contemporary floral design, Angie and Erik’s wedding is also a nod to how they met – while in school at Indiana University. And, the icing on the cake? The photography is by bobbi + mike. Score!  Thanks to Social Butterfly for sending the wedding our way!

From Social Butterfly:
We were so thrilled to be a part of Angie and Erik’s wedding on September 5, 2010. As a former butterfly and current event planner, Angie designed and planned her stunning wedding down to their very smallest detail. The ceremony, cocktail hour, and reception were decorated with beautiful green, black, and white touches.

Since the bride and groom started dating while attending Indiana University, returning to the Indiana Memorial Union (IMU) on campus was very meaningful for the two of them. The ceremony, which took place in the Tree Garden Suite, was fun and light-hearted as the wedding party walked down the aisle to some of the couple’s favorite love songs by Colbie Calliat, John Mayer, and Jason Mraz. Adding more personal touches, the groom’s aunt, Julie Alvarez, read an excerpt from Dr. Suess’s “The Places You Will Go.” Angie and Erik’s ceremony was a perfect expression their own young, happy-go-lucky personalities.

Following the ceremony, guests were invited to the IMU’s Solarium for a quick cocktail hour, which was beautifully decorated with countless green and white paper lanterns and dramatic green lighting. Immediately after, the extravagant reception in Alumni Hall was revealed featuring modern floral designs, vivid lighting, fun table settings, and more! Throughout the night, more entertainment was available for guests, including a photo booth and caricature artist. Upbeat music continually played and guests danced into the early morning hours.

The bold punches of greens and purples from Leesa and Michael’s wedding only solidify the fact that this is truly a Summer wedding. Add that with an outdoor backdrop and details with a nod to the heat of Summer, and you have yourself a beautiful wedding captured by Jeremy + Vickie.

I’m not quite sure what I love most about this wedding just yet. Maybe it’s the gorgeous ceremony venue, the soft and romantic color palette, Allison’s sapphire ring. Her shoes?! Oh, her shoes. And, did I mention the ceremony venue?
