plan a modern wedding in the middle of the country

Completely swooning over the bridesmaids’ attire. Why didn’t I think of this for my girls?  Doesn’t exactly fit the feel of our wedding, but totally works for this wedding.

And, that my friends, is your clue to get creative! A bridesmaid does not always have to wear a dress!

Yeah, I love bows.  My girls’ clutches will have a bow (a very chic one, might I add).

But, when I came across this dress (the one in the middle), I decided I had to have it.  For what?  Not sure yet.  I first need to find out who makes this dress.  So…if you know, let me know!  Love the color, too!

There were many things about this wedding shot by The Youngrens that I loved, but something that really caught my eye was that the bridesmaids carried balloons instead of bouquets.

Just a quirky element that made a cute little impact.  I’m not sure what they did with the balloons during the ceremony, but in this particular shot, you can see them behind the bride and groom – a fun little touch!

Just another reason why I love the idea of the bridesmaids carrying clutches in lieu of bouquets.  So much more natural, and beautiful (and practical).

They just look so classy carrying them!

If you’re from the South, love the outdoors or horses, or plain just love cowboy boots, PLEASE do NOT be afraid to wear cowboy boots under your wedding dress.

I big puffy heart this idea (really because I love the South, cowboys and cowboy boots).

Better yet, you could have your bridesmaids do it instead!

I’m a huge proponent for personalizing your wedding details in a way that reflect your surroundings, your lifestyle and things you (and your FI) like.  And, because of I that, I love when brides switch it up and do something non-traditional.  It really says something when a bride and/or groom sort of “take control” of their wedding by doing what they want, whether it is something traditional or something not.

Like this bride, who had her bridesmaids carry lanterns instead of bouquets.

AND, they had rally towels made for their guests (I’m a sports fan, so I’m digging this idea).

Are you incorporating any non-traditional ideas into your wedding?

Just found the cutest bridesmaids clutches ever. Ever.

I was scoping out Etsy (like I do about every single day), and was browsing through my “Favorite Shops” so I could go back through the sellers’ shops.  And, there she was, staring at me in all her beautiful glory.  I sent a message to the shop seller to get more information and see if they come in red.

More updates to come, but I was just too excited to not post about this.  I’ll post photos once I confirm everything with the seller.  I don’t want to let the cat completely out of the bag.

And, I am thinking at least one of my bridesmaids will call, text or e-mail about this today.

I was originally thinking that I didn’t want my girls to wear colored shoes, especially since I will be sporting this lovely pair (swoon).  But this photo makes me rethink that thought.

Yeah, I need to pick a dress for them first before I decide on shoes, but I love the idea of each of the girls finding a pair of shoes that work for them and that they could wear again (and, I know that one of my bridesmaids is loving the idea of getting to purchase another pair of red shoes).

Keeping this idea in the back of my head for now, but wanted to share (for fear that I might forget later).

And, in keeping with the whole Pumpkin Spice Latte news from last night, how adorable are these coffee cup ‘sweaters?’

These little guys, which I found on Etsy via Grey Likes Weddings, are adorable for a coffee drinker (probably female coffee drinker), or even a tea or hot chocolate drinker. We all have a few of those in our lives (I know I do!), so these would make great little Bridesmaids gifts!

And so it has been decided…the bridesmaids will carry clutches, not flowers.  Now to find an adorable clutch on the pages of Etsy.  If I disappear, someone come pull me out of the beautiful black hole that is the Etsy website.

And yes, I realize I just blogged about the clutches, but I ADORE the idea.  Sorry flower lovers.

Not only that, I’m pretty sure I decided on a dress for them as well.  Bonus.  It is a two-for-one kinda day.
