Today’s real wedding is drenched in color. In an oh so beautiful and fun way. With splashes of green and contemporary floral design, Angie and Erik’s wedding is also a nod to how they met – while in school at Indiana University. And, the icing on the cake? We were so thrilled to be a part of Angie and Erik’s wedding on September 5, 2010. As a former butterfly and current event planner, Angie designed and planned her stunning wedding down to their very smallest detail. The ceremony, cocktail hour, and reception were decorated with beautiful green, black, and white touches.
Since the bride and groom started dating while attending Indiana University, returning to the Indiana Memorial Union (IMU) on campus was very meaningful for the two of them. The ceremony, which took place in the Tree Garden Suite, was fun and light-hearted as the wedding party walked down the aisle to some of the couple’s favorite love songs by Colbie Calliat, John Mayer, and Jason Mraz. Adding more personal touches, the groom’s aunt, Julie Alvarez, read an excerpt from Dr. Suess’s “The Places You Will Go.” Angie and Erik’s ceremony was a perfect expression their own young, happy-go-lucky personalities.
Following the ceremony, guests were invited to the IMU’s Solarium for a quick cocktail hour, which was beautifully decorated with countless green and white paper lanterns and dramatic green lighting. Immediately after, the extravagant reception in Alumni Hall was revealed featuring modern floral designs, vivid lighting, fun table settings, and more! Throughout the night, more entertainment was available for guests, including a photo booth and caricature artist. Upbeat music continually played and guests danced into the early morning hours.
