plan a modern wedding in the middle of the country

The essence of today’s wedding really speaks to me. In their near elopement, there weren’t themes or color palettes to fit into. There weren’t tons of guests to impress. There was just a bride and a groom, those nearest to them, and their love bringing them together. Then, instead of a huge party after, they had a photoshoot that was just about the two of them, Beth and Ben. Love, love, love.

From the Photographer:

Big, fabulous weddings are awesome. Really, I’ve never photographed a single big wedding that wasn’t just amazing. But there’s something about getting back to your roots and having a small, intimate, “almost-elopement” style wedding that’s just peaceful and beautiful and a true celebration of love. Beth and Ben did it their way, which I admire more than they could ever know. Intimate. Private. Peaceful. Their ceremony was in the prayer room of their home church and in front of twelve people total- including the minister and myself, the only “wedding vendor” they wanted as part of their day. Afterwards, and in a perfectly befitting way for a couple who met in elementary school twenty years ago, we had a portrait session on their childhood playground. It was romantic and mellow and just lovely, and I’m humbled to have been a part of it.
