plan a modern wedding in the middle of the country

Some of us love our pets (me included). So much so in fact that we want to include them in our weddings. I don’t blame anyone for wanting to do this. I quite think my pup is the coolest, more adorable dog on the planet, and if it weren’t for the fact that the Pilot and I are having quite a large wedding with everyone staying in hotels, we would have included her.

So, how do you include your pup if he/she can be there? Any number of ways!

And, that’s only the start of it.  How would you include your pet?

Yes, that’s right.

It’s hot outside (well, at least in the Midwest). So, why not cool off, right?

Christ and Bo had planned a little fun for their wedding guests after their sweet and intimate ceremony in downtown St. Louis. A little fun in the form of a water balloon fight.  And, I cannot get over how fantastic these images are, not to mention how gorgeous the light is.

Obviously, not every bride is going to be game for launching water balloons back and forth with her groom, but you cannot deny that the idea is definitely a fun one!

I love anything quirky, funny and lovey-dovey (i.e. videos like this one). Andy from Oceanwide Studios shared this one just yesterday (and I’m a sucker for wedding videos), so I’m passing along. Not only does a wedding video like this truly capture the character and personality of the couple, but it tells a beautiful story.

Yes, you read that correctly.  Apparently, the new trend in weddings is having the bride wear a diaper because “dresses are just too complicated.” Don’t believe me? Watch this.

Do me a HUGE favor and DO NOT wear a diaper on your wedding day. You’ll thank me later.

Rain. Most brides (and grooms) dread that lovely little four letter word. We all wish for sun and blue skies on our wedding day. But at the end of the day, shouldn’t you be excited about getting married, regardless of what the weather is like? I think this bride’s face says it all.

Rachel & Trevor’s Wedding – Bride plays the Drums! from derren raser on Vimeo.

I need to learn the guitar or something before the end of September. Muchas love to her for rocking it out, behind a drum set, in her wedding gown.

So, today is the day. St. Louis is officially launching its chapter with a soiree at Lumen.  After nearly a month of recruiting fantastic volunteers to help plan the event, and getting some fantastic vendors on board, the St. Louis wedding industry will be welcoming this organization with welcome arms.

It comes just a few days after it was announced that the Seattle chapter’s first wish passed away.  Just about three weeks prior, Shelly’s dream and wish came true when she got to marry the love of her life, Jay.  At the time, doctors had only given her three weeks to live, and the Seattle chapter put their heads and hearts together to make the wedding happen.  This news is just a reminder of why Wish Upon a Wedding is a wonderful addition to this industry.

Not only do you not have to take formal photographs, but you can be relaxed and enjoy your company, too.

So, are you about the formals, or about the candid photographs?

When you live in a big town, you usually see a ton of photographs from all of the city’s big landmarks. Take St. Louis for example. A good majority of weddings take photos in front of the Arch, Busch Stadium, in Forest Park, Tower Grove Park and in Kiener Plaza.  But, why not try to be different. Choose a location that’s unique, fits your personality (and your SO’s, too).

Darci over at With This Ring shared this gorgeous Chicago wedding not too long ago. The bride and groom took portraits at the site of their reception venue. But, this venue was not your normal reception setting. There was no hotel ballroom in the middle of the city.  They danced the night away at the Danada house, which had stables and a paddock with horses. The perfect backdrop for a dreamy set of photos. See for yourself.

We all love a good first kiss photo. It’s that first moment of your “married kiss,” and everyone always whips out their cameras to catch it.

But, as a bride and groom – don’t forget to freshen up.

And, of course – that moment got a pretty good reaction from the crowd.
