plan a modern wedding in the middle of the country

A rare thing happened to me when I was putting this post together. As I was looking at all the images, and having read their story, I thought, “I kind of wish I were there.” Now I don’t know Becca or Kade, but their wedding looks so genuinely full of love, beautiful details, and FUN that I’m a little bummed I missed out!

From the Photographer:

Becca and Kade are a very outdoorsy, laid back couple so when choosing a ceremony location they decided on a beautiful piece of family owned property that overlooked a valley in Iowa. The ceremony location was on the very top point of a hill to provide a beautiful view of the whole valley and the turning fall colors. I loved how they decorated the ceremony location with beautiful wooden doors that welcomed guests to their seats.

We started off the day by photographing Becca who was getting ready in the family’s nearby cabin. It provided the perfect location that tied in with the theme of her day. Becca loves sparkly things so I wasn’t surprised that she had a lot of beautiful matching garter and bracelet set. Her older sister, Jennifer, helped Becca get into her dress and button all the buttons up the back. The groom wore a gray suit which tied into the couples gray and pink color palette. The bridesmaids all wore mismatched dresses that fit with the color palette of the day. I also just loved the little ring bearers who wore gray vests with newsboy hats and rainbow colored bow ties.

The couple wanted to mix vintage and elegance together and I think they did it wonderfully! I loved all the ceremony details such as the flower girl’s little basket and the boys carrying the “hear comes the bride” sign down the aisle. Then at the ceremony they mixed the rustic details such as the burlap centerpieces with elegant decor of the reception hall like the chandeliers and table candelabras.

The Maid of Honor stole the show at the reception by writing a little “poem” for Becca that was set to the music of Vanilla Ice’s “Ice Ice Baby”. It was quite the show stopper and can be seen here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VhZtHSc2tko
