plan a modern wedding in the middle of the country

While we of course love featuring weddings here at Landlocked Bride, every once in a while a special photo session comes our way and we are thrilled to post it. This is one such session as it depicts Sandy and Dennis, a couple married nearly 40 years. How fantastic to showcase a love and commitment that has stood the test of time, from their wedding day in the very first photo, to celebrating their relationship in the rest of the images.

From Sandy:

We met in March of 1975 in Duluth, MN, when I was doing a community theatre production called “The First 50 Years are the Hardest”, a review of 50 years of musical theatre. I was playing Betty Boop and Shirley Temple. Dennis was making a public service television spot for the show. I came out as Betty Boop and sang “I Wanna Be Loved by You”. We were an instant Item and have been together ever since. In fact, that was in March, we started dating in May and got married in October! While still in Duluth, we continued our involvement with the Duluth Playhouse and also our children’s theatre troupe, Unexpected Company.
I continued to get my applause fix by singing professionally with the Kansas City Chorale for about 18 years here in KC.
Dennis’ work as a tv producer/director brought us to the Kansas City area in 1984 and except for the days over a hundred degrees, we love it here! We have three grown children, two grandchildren, one dog, one grand dog and two grand cats.
Dennis and I insist one of the best facets of our life together is a sense of humor. We laugh ourselves silly, love costume parties (there is no end which is too far when it comes to dressing up), have made a photo Christmas card every single year since we got married – some serious, many downright ridiculous and we love each and every one!
We have had many adventures, love to travel, cook, create and have fun with our family. Our latest big adventure was traveling to Greece for our 35th wedding anniversary where we rented a cottage in a small fishing village and just lived there for 3 weeks. It was blissful.
