plan a modern wedding in the middle of the country

A while ago I had posted about new twists on old traditions, and today I will elaborate on one of those twists – mismatched bridesmaid dresses!  This past weekend I had the honor of being a bridesmaid for a very dear friend who had decided to take on this new tradition by putting her 2 maids of honor in a slightly different color than the 4 bridesmaids.  The contrast was not only fun and original, it was beautiful seeing the brown and gold colors together and I can’t wait to see the final photos by the talented Mark and Kelly Hawkins of Mark Hawkins Photography. Meanwhile, enjoy the photos of these other brides who also went down this non-traditional road and see what a stunning impact the way in which you dress your bridal party can make.

What style do you plan on having for your big day? Different styles, different patterns or simply choosing different colors is a unique and original way to let each of your bridal party members express some of their own personality with their wedding day wardrobe.  However, if you don’t like the idea of mismatched bridesmaids, remember that you can even choose different style or colored shoes or jewelry for your bridal party as well.

  1. I am starting to warm up to this idea since many of my brides are entertaining this idea. The one thing I do like is when they pick the same type of material or same colors. I love the picture from wedding magazine with the black bridesmaid dresses…so chic! xo
