plan a modern wedding in the middle of the country

Today’s Tuesday Shoesday pretty much takes the cake.  Every week I get to share a beautiful share of shoes (usually ones I would love in my close), but today is different.  Christina of Charisma Photo shared this sweet pair with me, and also shared this too sweet story.

Danielle chose a fun pair of shoes to wear down the aisle, but when her father passed away the Sunday before her big day, she wanted a way to ensure he’d be there on her big day.  So she decided to wear a pair of his socks down the aisle.

My heart just melted when I read that. I can only image how emotional her wedding day was.  And, the fact that she wore a pair of his socks just tugged at my heartstrings.

  1. What a sweet story – I can’t even imagine how hard it was for her and all the emotion on her wedding day!

Hello everyone. I am the bride of this wedding. Christina, my photographer, sent me an email notifying me of this post. I read the email and it gave me chills. I want to thank whoever contacted Christina about posting this. It means so much to have someone go out of their way and care so much.

My Dad passed away the Sunday before the wedding. The news was shocking and I will never forget when I found out. However, I will also never forget all of the memories I shared with my dad. He was the best dad anyone could ever ask for. He was loved by so many people. My heart is broken and the feelings are indescribable, but I know my dad is with me still.

So anyways…about the socks…He was obsessed with socks. He had dressers filled with them…no lie. I actually had a pair made for him for the wedding day. The bottom/foot of the sock read, “Thank you for the walk of my life. Forever your little girl, Danielle.” The top of the sock read, “Love you Dad. 06.11.11” He has those with him now. His favorite socks were his hunting socks (his second obsession). So, I picked the navy ones to match my wedding colors. My brother (who walked me down the aisle) wore them as well. It was absolutely perfect and a great way for me to include my dad. I love him so much.

  3. What a touching story. . . Wearing the socks was such a personal way for the bride to remember her father! There are many ways to incorporate memories of loved ones into your special day, such as photos, lockets and personal tokens. BTW, the shoes are gorgeous!
