plan a modern wedding in the middle of the country

This wedding truly carries the spirit of summer. With the bright light (peaking through the rain clouds), the bold colors and tropical feel. Katy and Craig’s wedding has me wishing I was on a beach somewhere right about now.

From the Bride:
The wedding venue was an easy choice for us since I was a member with my family there as a child. My father passed away when I was five and my dad’d friends planted a tree for him on the 6th hole of the west course at Norwood Hills Country Club. Just to make the venue more perfect, On our second date Craig called me to tell me he was going to be late because he had a meeting at Norwood because he was joining as a member! We dated for five years after that enjoying our summers at the club.

Every detail of the wedding seemed to come together flawlessly. I think I might be the only bride in the world where this happened! I went to the linen store and found our burlap tablecloths and green napkins within minutes of walking in. The cake was the best tasting thing I have ever put in my mouth so that day was a breeze as well. Kudos to the Cakery on Tamm! The grooms cake was the idea of another cake shop in Wildwood. Mo, they really made our vision come to life.

Exclusive events took care of the lighting, draping and the outdoor furniture. The lighting really set the mood of the reception. I was so happy to see that they could do something about the DARK BROWN walls that Norwood decided to paint from white a couple of months before the wedding. Besides the dark brown walls, Norwood also redid the floors to the original marble making a gorgeous dance floor.

It was supposed to rain the day of the wedding and we had to put up the tent, my worst nightmare at the time. But it turned out to be more beautiful with the tent, giving the ceremony an all white look with the alter and wedding party in bright oranges and pinks.

Sisters flowers created my magnificent 25 pound all orchid bouquet. Believe it or not, my left arm was broken during the wedding and I carried that bouquet! My doctors were nice enough to take my cast off for the occasion. I was just happy I could still carry it! And the centerpieces were exquisite, filled with orchids and palm leaves. They understood the drama I wanted from the flowers and boy did they deliver!

From the music to the signature drinks my wedding was exactly how I had dreamed. This wedding would have not been pulled off if it wasn’t for our wedding planner Shayna Laiderman of St. Louis wedding consultants. She worked tireless with me to come up with all the cute details from the napkins to the lighting.
