There is just something about this wedding that has that little sparkle that shines throughout the entire wedding. In every image that Jeff of The Clevelands shared with me, the bride has that authentic smile and the groom has this calm excitement about him. It’s the type of authentic love that makes all of the details of a wedding just perfectly fall in place. And, all the more reason to share.
From the Bride:
Everyday leading up to June 18th was filled with excitement and butterflies. Our wedding weekend began with our rehearsal dinner at Racine’s historic Wind Point Lighthouse over looking Lake Michigan – a perfect setting for a June evening.
The wedding ceremony was held at Grace Church, which has been our family church for many years and is the place that we met in a 5th grade youth group. After years of different paths, high schools and colleges, we reconnected in MIlwaukee and the rest is history! Pastor Jerry Worsham officiated our ceremony and has been the lead pastor at Grace for 30 years. He is retiring this year, so it meant so much more to us that he would welcome us into our new lives together in Christ. Scripture was read by our brothers, Justin and Joel. Music was provided by our friends, Rhiannon and Suzy, and was a mix of traditional and personal favorites.
My dress was an ivory, organza drop waist dress with cap sleeves and light layers. I also wore custom cathedral and fingertip-length veils, a surprise for Paul. The bridesmaids dresses were a tea-length taupe and each of them were absolutely beautiful in their dress. Our mothers wore taupe and charcoal and were the most beautiful we had ever seen them. Paul and his groomsmen were classically fitted – black tuxedos, bow tie, cummerbund and suspenders. It was special to see our fathers, brothers and friends looking so handsome! The entire bridal party was dressed by Eva’s Bridal in Oak Creek, WI.
I designed and made my bouquet and the entire bridal party flowers. My bouquet of white peonies was completed with a blue, antique cross which was my late grandmother’s. The bridesmaids’ bouquets were a mix of green, purple and white hydrangeas, peonies and ranunculas.
After the ceremony, we took Paul’s father’s 1949 Buick Super Dynaflow, chauffeured by his brother Joel, to the reception. The reception was held at Racine Country Club – a beautiful venue with superb service and delicious food – dinner was salmon and filet. The large windows of RCC overlooked the gorgeous, green setting and golf course and allowed our guests to watch the sunset. Centerpieces were designed by family friend, Borzynski’s Farm, a whimsical mix of all white flowers in a classic gold vase. Our wedding cake was from the world famous O&H Bakery founded right here in Racine. It was a magical three-tiered square cake that almost looked better than it tasted. Red Velvet, Lemon Poppy-Seed, Carrot, and Danish Layer were the guest options for flavors. My mom and I also created a table of sweets for the guests to enjoy – chocolate-covered pretzels, cashews and homemade fudge (which my mom and I also made) were a few of the treats. Music for the night completed the classic theme – a four piece band, The Vibratones, set the tone for a night of dancing and celebrating!
Our photographers, Jeff and Jan, allowed our day to go extra-smoothly and were able to capture each of our special moments that would have rather been forgotten or overlooked. They even were kind enough to steal us away for moments throughout the day to be alone. Our videographer, Barry Tait of Tait Media Design, was able to capture these special moments as well and got beautiful footage of our vows. To us, both our photographers and videographer were an investment and we are so grateful for the beautiful work they did, that we will enjoy for many years to come!
Our wedding day ended with Paul carrying me over the threshold as we spent our first night together in our new home!
We are so grateful that God has given us this journey to share together. Our wedding day was a year’s worth of planning, organization, creativity and hard work. This time spent planning with our families’ undying support was only preparation for what our big day would have in store for us! It was so special to spend the day with our family and friends, celebrating the love that we share. What was even more special to witness this day was the joining of a new family God has created in Him.
