Today’s real wedding is quite a special one. Not only have I been fortunate enough to know the bride, but she is a dear friend and a peer in the industry. And, if that were not enough, we are sorority sisters and alums of the same university. It is ironic how we found ourselves re-connected several years after college, but am blessed for the second chance.
Her wedding was filled with bold and beautiful details. Simple touches with a nod to where the groom was from (the Bahamas). An absolutely gorgeous backdrop (at the Missouri Botanical Gardens). And, one absolutely adorable puppy.
A big thanks to Michelle at Under Grace Photo for sharing Tiffany and Trae’s wedding images with me.
From the Bride, Tiffany:
I can definitely say the best and most memorable moment of the day was when I rounded the big oak tree to start walking down the aisle. I wasn’t prepared to be so emotional, I wasn’t prepared to just completely lose it. It was incredibly impactful to suddenly see the whole lineup of our wedding party with Trae standing in the center. All of my sisters and best friends were there lined up in their bright teal dresses and red exotic bouquets, the guys in their gray tuxes and red bouts, my puppy in his bowtie, my nieces and nephews, the backdrop on which they were all standing and they were all looking at me huge smiles on their faces.
I zoned in on Trae immediately, noticed how statuesque and calm he appeared, standing tall, proud, and confident, clearly relieved to finally see me. I lost it. Every single photo of me walking up the aisle is completely unusable due to my “I’m weeping but I’m trying not to” face, my unbelievably gorgeous bouquet somewhat flung to my side and my other arm clutching my father’s arm. I was a real mess. I cried all the way up the aisle, and amazingly my emotions were somehow able to even increase when Trae grabbed my hands, I have no idea what happened in our ceremony, he and I had our eyes locked on each other the entire time. I couldn’t say my vows – I couldn’t speak. I managed to get them out well enough to consider it “legal” ;), and hopefully somewhat intelligible. Trae stayed strong and confident, squeezing my hands and giving me his “I’ve got this” look whenever I would start to sort of jump up and down or “shake myself out” or whatever other crazy thing I was doing in attempts to calm myself. The entire ceremony was just such an amazing feeling, finally seeing him, finally marrying him, having him hold my hands to keep me under control, I know that I will never ever forget how I felt during those short 15 minutes. It was so special.
After our “I do’s”, Santino (who was in my mother in law’s possession in the front row) let out a single “BARK!” and if he wasn’t being held tightly by his leash, he would have darted up to us and flung himself into our arms. Everyone laughed, and both of us simultaneously turned to Santino, pointed to him and said “AND SANTINO TOO!” Which made everyone laugh even more, and we laughed how we thought to say the same thing at that impromptu moment.
