Happy Voting!
With Christmas just 6 days away, I wanted to share this great green palette I found on Flights of Fancy – one of my favorite blogs to find great color inspiration.

This palette uses great shades of green with a hint of silver. Definitely a classic combo.
I posted last week on indoor engagement photo shoot ideas. If only I would have thought of this then, except, there is no Ikea in town (sad trombone). This couple shot their engagement photos in an Ikea. I am absolutely in love with this idea because I love Ikea and I love the untraditional. And, I know someone else who will probably appreciate the kitchen shot in this grouping.

I cannot wait to see the rest of the pictures from the Joy Thigpen shoot for Once Wed. Photo is courtesy of Tec Petaja.
P dot s. Love that headbad.
P dot s dot s. How can you not love all of that candlelight?!
As much as I love a good “dress in the window” shot. I love doing something different a whole lot more.

I think about this a lot myself, as a bride. I’m not one rooted in tradition – I like to make my own waves and do things my way. To some, those things may be traditional, to others they may be untraditional, but how I look at them, is that I do them my way.
The same should go for planning your wedding. To most of us brides-to-be, when we hear the term “traditional wedding” we immediately think of poofy white dresses, long veils, sit-down dinners, and so on. And, to some of us, we cringe at the idea of throwing ourselves a “traditional wedding.” Now, before you go bashing me for not liking the traditional, know that I do not like traditional weddings for myself. What I find important in planning a wedding is that you make the wedding about you and your significant other. And, for most of you readers, I’m sure you know that I have made that a common thread in many of my posts.
I digress.
Last week I was catching up on some of my daily blog reads, when the Bowie Bride posted about a blog post she read on A Los Angeles Love. The blog owner’s fiance took to the blog to really talk about how brides (and grooms) should really stop focusing on making a wedding traditional or non-traditional and really focus on making the wedding about your personalities, your lifestyles and the little elements in your relationship that make you and your significant other who you are. It really struck a chord with me. Instead of labeling your wedding as “non-traditional,” just label it unique and personal. Make it about you. If you like poofy dresses, then that is a special element about your wedding. If you don’t like flowers, then that is what makes your wedding a reflection of you.
So, I say, stop trying to fit into a mold, or avoid fitting into a mold, and really focus on the heart of the wedding – making it yours.
Yeah, it happens. Some of us brides get really stressed out, lose sleep and wake up a few days before the wedding (or even on the morning of) sick as a dog. The worst part? You probably haven’t even let this thought cross your mind. Your body is going through quite a bit of stress (good and bad) around your nuptials, making it important to take care of yourself.
So, what are some ways you can prevent this from happening?
Get a Flu Shot
This is the best way to help prevent from getting the flu, especially at this time of the year. So stop by your doctor’s office or local clinic to get vaccinated.
Sleep
That’s right – get plenty of sleep. When you deprive the body of sleep you put yourself at jeopardy of getting sick because your immune systems becomes weaker.
Vitamin C
Whether you take a multi-vitamin or use Emergen-C, make sure you are getting your recommended daily value of Vitamin C. This water soluble vitamin helps to boost your immune system.
Eat Health
Sure, you have to worry about the linens and flowers and where everyone is sitting, so it’s no surprise you’d rather drive through McDonald’s than spend an hour or so cooking dinner at home. But you’ll do your body a favor by nourishing it with good-for-you food. And, don’t skip meals – it throws your body’s metabolism off balance.
Delegate
That’s right, I said the “D” word that most of us Type A brides do not want to hear. The more tasks you take on as your wedding nears, the more you stress your body out and make yourself week. So split some tasks up, whether you give some to you fiance, your mom, some bridesmaids or family members. Almost all of them are going to be willing to help, so don’t turn them down.
The last thing I would want to happen to any of you brides-to-be, is that you get sick before the wedding. Take care of yourselves – especially since we are right in the middle of flu season and H1N1 is making its way around town.
It should be no secret that I love balloons (see: Engagement Photos).
So, of course I love the look of this ceremony decor. What I love even more is the fact that the balloons are all at different heights. Gives the space (well, outdoor space) character and depth.

The Pilot and I have not yet sent out our invitations or Save the Dates (it’s a little early, folks). However, I know many of you are getting close to that point. And, the cost of postage is running through your mind.
It’s the same routine for all of us:
1. Finish invites and package into envelopes.
2. Visit local Post Office to have invitation weighed for correct postage.
3. Purchase postage and cross your fingers it’s enough.
While reading Miss T’s blog, Ninety Nine + Forever, I stumbled upon her recent post about mailing her invitations. And, boy, did this girl have the BEST. IDEA. EVER.
Go to the post office with ONE of your finished invitations. Put the amount of postage you think you’ll need (you can have the postmaster weight it to be sure, if you want). Mail the invitation to yourself. Yes, I really just said that.
A few days later your invitation will show up.
Miss T. was told by the Post Office that all of her local mail would need two stamps. So, she mailed an invite to herself with one stamp, and it arrived safe and sound without a “Postage Due” note.
Genius idea.
