plan a modern wedding in the middle of the country

Let’s be honest.  All of us brides-to-be have spent hours scouring the web and bridal stores for the perfect bridesmaids dresses.

I thought I knew what I wanted, until I chose my dress (which has not been purchased yet, but will be this Saturday – more on that later this week).  The dresses I had in mind were WAY too formal for my dress (my dress is not casual, just not poofy or lace-y or bead-y).  So it was back to square one.

I found a few contenders in my second wave of searching with this one topping the list, including this one.

I love this dress. To pieces. However, I don’t love how this dress has the potential to fit on all of my girls. It wasn’t until last week when I saw a recent post by local photographer, Beth Berry, that I wasn’t feeling the way this dress looked on a group of girls.

Don’t get me wrong, I still love this dress, and plan on purchasing it in black for my “planner” duties. I’m just feeling that it doesn’t fit cohesively with my vision for my girls.

You’ll get to see more of my options down the road….but the actual dress will have to wait until our wedding next year (I don’t want to give away too many details!).

Disclaimer: Again, I love this dress. And, by no means am I suggesting that it looks bad in the above bride’s wedding. I am concerned on how it will look on my girls in MY wedding.

  1. Y’know, I don’t know what it is about them. I think it’s their knees…I never knew a dress would make someone’s knees look chubby, but this one does on some of the girls. Huh.

  2. Pretty! But kinda give that fattening effect, don’t you think?

How about different dress types all in the same color and length?:)

  3. I don’t mind the dress, but I don’t particularly love it. I need to start getting serious aboutbridesmaids dresses.

Yeah, I wasn’t really feeling it after seeing the same dress on different girls. I am in love with my final choice, though.

@Sarah You got some time. I kept fretting about it, but decided that I can’t make a decision for them until I ordered my dress.

  5. So, we just had the option of about five of those exact line dresses in a wedding last month, and we all picked our own preferred style. I tried that one on, and it needed major altering to make my figure look like it really does. They are all pretty super cute, but have to be prepared for an already expensive dress to be altered. Hope you get it worked out. I tried on the Sydney, Lyndsey, Erica, and a couple others. I posted a pic of it earlier this month …..

@Kelsey Thanks for the feedback! After seeing the picture in my post, I’ve gone a different route, and the girls love the choice!

That’s awesome that you could find a picture of so many girls in the dress.
