It’s a trend breaking on to the scene, and definitely a good one. There will always be a large percentage of brides-to-be that will prefer a gown in the white palette (white, off-white, cream, ivory), but there are a growing number of brides wanting something more fun or reflective of their true personality. Long gone is the idea that a bride MUST wear white on her wedding day. Some brides add a touch of color with a colored sash or trim, but the new trend is a completely colored gown.
And, I love, love the idea of a colored gown (I’m a champagne or grey fan, myself). But, the colors don’t just stop there. Recently, I stumbled upon this post where the bride wore a light blue gown (which would be perfect for a winter wedding).
Rose, dusty rose and pale purple are colors that have been showing up more prominently in high-end designers’ collections, like this one in Vera Wang’s.
And, how can I forget this J.Crew lovely, featured earlier in the week on the blog? I love the grey, which would be a dress perfect for any season.
Swoon. Definitely would have considered that J.Crew dress if grey were one of our colors!

I LOVE this trend! I’m not even engaged or anything but I do love fantasizing about my future wedding. This is definitely a trend I would do. Well, I hate to say “trend” because I’ve always wanted to do something different. I hate the same-old, same-old wedding crap.
Great post!

@Julie I love a colored dress. It so fun, funky and modern! I’d love to see what dress you choose (when you get to that point)!

I love the idea of grey too. Ulrich Engler has some beautiful grey designs.

Personally, I am not into colored dresses beyond a beige or grey/silver. But I love that the options are available now for the girls that do want it!

@Sarah I’m not feeling the pink or the blue, but I love grey and champagne. I know there are some girls out there who would love a colored gown and am glad designers are finally catering towards that niche!
