plan a modern wedding in the middle of the country

In an effort to put together out OOT (out of town) guest bags, the FI and I are looking to include goodies in the bags with a nod to St. Louis.

And, one of those favorites?  Gooey Butter Cake.  For you non-Saint Louisans, you’re probably wondering “What in the hell is gooey butter cake?”  And my answer is heaven.

Park Avenue Coffee

First off, Park Avenue Coffee not only has the traditional gooey butter cake, but 64 different flavors in total.  And, secondly, I’m on a mission to try every single one, just so I can pick the perfect flavor for the OOT bags (I’m sure I will go with the traditional version). But, lets be honest, I really just want a reason to eat every flavor of gooey butter cake.

The FI and I think including a nice square of gooey butter cake in the bags, is a great nod to a St. Louis tradition.  Stay tuned for more of our St. Louis OOT bag elements.

Now if we can only get Ted Drewe’s to go in there without melting…

  1. Okay, I am ALL OVER this. I think it is a great idea for OOT bags. S has decided instead of doing gooey butter for a grooms cake, we are going to have it at the rehearsal dinner along with toasted ravs…since we have so many OOT guests that will be coming to Texas, our rehearsal dinner is a nod to Texas, but S wants to add some StL flair…hence the toasted ravs and gooey butter.

Ugh, and thanks for mentioning Ted Drewes…now I am craving it and I won’t get any until November :(

If it makes you feel any better, I haven’t had Ted Drewe’s since last Summer (sad face).

I love the idea of having the gooey butter cake and t-ravs. Great thinking!

I LOVE the gooey butter cake at Park ave coffee! I shoot at Lafayette Square SO much and every time I do, I stop in Park Ave and get a tasty treat :) .

  4. [...] wedding (of course, if you are a Midwestern bride). I completely love the idea of bringing in some hometown favorites into the out of town bags, and this would be a great tie-in. No Comments gifts, out of town [...]
