I thought I wanted my bridesmaids to carry small bouquets. That is, until I saw this:
I have seen the idea before, but this time it really struck me. I think it would be a fun and modern twist on the original bouquet to instead have the girls carry clutches in different patterns of reds and/or oranges. For the sake of the wedding ceremony, we would adorn each clutch with a peony or ranuncula.
It’s something a bit more fun, and instead of throwing away their bouquets, the girls get to keep a fun clutch. I’m not much of a flower person (although they smell wonderful and I am having a love affair with ranunculas), so this could be another different and unique element for the wedding (even the FI said it’s a “cool” idea). I still plan on carrying a bouquet (I’m sure some of you were asking this in the back of your mind).
Are your girls going to carry flowers, or you going to go for something a bit modern/untraditional?

I love this idea! I don’t think I would do it because the church isn’t going to have much in terms of decorations (I am not a flower person either) so I figure some of the few flowers will be the bridesmaids bouquets.
I really love this idea for you though since you will get married surrounded by flowers this would be something fun and funky and different.

Thanks! That’s what I was thinking too. We really don’t need a ton of flowers, since we are essentially in a greenhouse!
Although, I do think the bouquets are a great way to bring flowers in, especially if you place empty vases on the head tables. That way, when the girls get to the reception, they can place their bouquets in the vases of water on the table and voila! Instant flower arrangements!

I also like this idea because it’s more natural I think to carry a clutch than the bouquet. Plus it gives the girls a good place to keep things like make-up for touch-ups at the reception which can sometimes be a pain to figure out.

[...] yes, I realize I just blogged about the clutches, but I ADORE the idea. Sorry flower lovers. No Comments [...]

I think this is great–everyone and their mother carries a bouquet!
I think my maids are going to carry small bouquets or just have corsages. Either way, we’re being boring and still going with flowers.

I don’t think it’s boring to carry flowers! I’m just not a flower-type girl. I think flowers are good when you are going for a certain look or feel with your wedding.
